output variables neede to compute the heights of the vertical levels and the air density

Hi All,
I want to estimate the total burden of a parameter, so I wondered which output variables I need to compute the heights of the vertical levels in meters and the air density.
I currently have output for dpres which refers to the pressure difference between level k and k+1 and also pressure at the surface (SLP). I wondered if it is feasible to estimate atmospheric pressure at a given vertical level from these two variables. Basically, I would like to know if dpres is not a staggered variable?
Regarding the heights of the vertical levels, I currently have in the output delz, which refers to model level gh thickness, but negative values, and dzdt, which is vertical motion in (m/s).

Thank you for your help,
Johana

Hi, Johana,

Yes, you can use dpres and pressure at surface to get pressure. The value is corresponding to the grid.

As to the heights of the vertical levels, negative delz means downward.

One way to verify the results is to plot the model simulated sounding at the analysis time to compare with the observations at certain station.

Thanks,

Linlin
